First, work on your listening skills. A good leader learns from those around him; therefore, it is crucial that instead of talking over others, you make a point to stop and hear what others are saying. You can use that information to help yourself and others.

Don’t be afraid to admit a weakness. If you make a mistake, own up to it. However, it is very important that you then take the steps necessary to turn your mistake around. Others will admire you, not only for admitting your faults but also for working to make them better. Don’t delay, though; swift action is the best way to make things right.

Cooperate with others, especially those that you don’t necessary agree with. It is a fact of life that you are going to come across others who don’t always share your particular viewpoint. You don’t have to agree with someone just for the sake of agreeing (in fact, one notable characteristic of leaders is the fact that they stand firm in their beliefs), but you do have to respect what someone else thinks. Don’t try and “make” someone else see your point of view. Instead, figure out how to work together to find success.

Finally, if you don’t know a lot about a topic, don’t pretend like you do. Instead, state the facts, which are that you need to research the topic more before you come to a conclusion on it.

I wanted to have a landline so I could transfer calls to one of my assistants if need be, and so they could do the same for me. I also wanted to make sure that I still had phone service even if our power went out. Since I do a lot of my work online, I wanted to have a way to communicate with my clients should an online conversation go dead. Since we live in an area where the power does go out several times a year because of storms, I just wanted to cover all of my bases.

I had no idea that there were so many phone plans available. I wanted to have my Internet connection through the same company who provided my phone service, and I wanted to be able to transfer and place calls on hold too. The best part about getting a landline is that I would no longer have to pay to talk to my clients if they called me. I have to pay for all mobile calls whether they are incoming or outgoing, so free incoming calls was a dream to me. I was able to select the company that had the best price for what I needed, and now all I need to do is hire a few assistants!

We needed duplicate records deleted. However, we needed to confirm the two datasets so that one record that contained extra information was not deleted. The records needed to be merged first. Then our corrupt entries needed to be analyzed to see if the correct information is contained within another record. It would have been long and tedious process to do in-house. This company did the work perfectly.

Our database is now up to date and clean. All of the extraneous and missing data has been corrected.

I went online and was able to find a florist that was not far from his place and was able to get some ideas from my wife about the kind of arrangements that you would send during a time like that. I did not want to send flowers that were too cheery or that would represent something that should not be represented, so I knew that I was best to follow her advice and send the ones that would be best.

I had learned in the past that not all flowers are suitable for every occasion, especially funerals. I had sent the wrong kind of flowers to another friend’s parent’s funeral and I never heard the end of it from my own mother. She could not believe that I had sent that arrangement to an event like that one.

How was I supposed to know that you cannot send a particular kind of flower to a funeral? I am just a guy that knows nothing about flowers other than you send them to your wife when you mess up, send them to celebrate the birth of a child, send them for funerals, weddings and anniversaries and other events.

Ever since my mother ripped me apart, I have checked with my wife before sending flowers to anyone other than her. When I need to send flowers to my wife, I check with my mother. It has worked out well this way.
